It’s still so strange to me how apparently taboo it is to like a post on someone’s Instagram from a month ago when there are posts still circulating on Tumblr from 1550 BCE

If he didn’t want it circulating in 2022 he should have sold better copper

i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

i also think that it would be wonderfully ironic if those who sought the fame and glory of the title of ‘dragonslayer’ only ended up with the bitter, enduring reminder of the devastation they’re responsible for. this is not a place of honor. no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here.

today i got locked out of watching youtube videos entirely on adblock grounds, so i did some tinkering.

ublock does not, in fact, seem to circumvent this, but i did find out something new through circumstance as well as trial and error:

bf told me two bits of information that turned out to be rather useful.
1) he hasn’t really gotten the youtube adblock notifications much.
2) his work laptop blocks youtube cookies completely. (this annoys him a bit because a couple quality of life features function off cookies)

so when i was trying to troubleshoot how to wrangle youtube into letting me listen to music without constantly throwing intrusive as hell ads at me, i decided to block youtube cookies just to see what would happen.

well wouldn’t you know, it has stopped complaining about ads being blocked entirely.
for now anyway.

TL;DR: looks like youtube is using cookies to check for adblockers, so blocking them seems to cause it to leave you alone.

If you don’t have the capacity to process everything that is happening in Palestine, that’s fine – donate to one of the non-politically motivated charities that has boots on the ground there:

https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org

https://www.anera.org

https://www.mausa.org

If you can only send $1, that’s still $1 more that they have to spend on aid. Everything helps, and money always talks.

When I was in the hospital, they gave me a big bracelet that said ALLERGY, but like. I’m allergic to bees. Were they going to prescribe me bees in there.

So there’s a medication called hyaluronidase. It’s used to make other medications absorb better, because it makes the cell wall more permeable.

One common usage is to make local anesthetic more effective during surgery, for instance. It’s used in a number of injected medications.

Bee stings contain an enzyme very similar to this medication, so sometimes, people with bee allergies have an allergic reaction to hyaluronidase.

This is called cross-reactivity, where your body mistakes something for the thing it’s actually allergic to, and has an allergic reaction anyway. For instance, sometimes people with latex allergies also are allergic to bananas and other fruits. They don’t actually contain latex, but there are some similar proteins.

Apparently, hyraluronidase used in humans is derived from one of four sources: sheep testicles, cow testicles, cow testicles again, and GMO hamster ovaries.

tl;dr: They won’t inject you with bees, but they might inject you with purified cow testicle juice, and your body might say ‘eh, cow balls are BASICALLY bees’ and try to kill you anyway.

McDonald’s giving away free fries if you use their mobile app and then updating the terms and conditions to say if you use this app you waive your right to trial in any class action lawsuits and have to do mandatory arbitration is INSANE

because i haven’t seen this in the notes yet: it is also VERY SIGNIFICANT that they are doing this as more and more people are learning about BDS. mcdonalds is one of the massive companies that palestiniens have been calling for boycotts of for years. it’d be a very convenient time for them if you ignored the ongoing call to boycott.

emotional self-harm exists and is fucking horrible

going back to an ex you KNOW will hurt you? consuming media you KNOW that triggers you? isolating yourself when you KNOW you need help? that’s a form of self-harm and needs to be acknowledged first to get help.

to be clear; this isn’t a callout. this is recognizing that emotional self-harm is a form of harm.

take this as a gentle reminder that your pain is real, that you are heard, and, most of all, to reach out for help.
